Gary Bowyer (born 26 June 1971) is an English former professional footballer who played as a full back. He is now active as a football coach.

Early and personal life

Gary Bowyer was born on 26 June 1971 in Manchester.[1] His father Ian was also a professional footballer.[2]

Career

Playing career

After playing non-League football for Westfields, Bowyer signed for Football League team Hereford United on non-contract terms, making 14 appearances in the 1989-1990 season.[3] After the season ended, Bowyer moved to Nottingham Forest, but he never made a senior appearance for them.[4][5] Bowyer later signed for Rotherham United, making 38 appearances in the League over the next two seasons, before retiring due to injury.[6]

Coaching career

After retiring as a player, Bowyer later became manager of non-League team Carshalton Athletic,[7] before becoming a youth coach for Blackburn Rovers.[8]
